Fenris was at Ashton's side in an instant. He crouched down in front of the man and grabbed his chin in a firm hold, lifting his face to look into Fenris' eyes. Fenris let a low growl rumble through his chest and throat until the sound filled the room along with his Alpha presence. He knew that with most Weres, no matter if they were full-bloods or hybrids, would back down if challenged by an Alpha.

The small man struggled weakly before his back slowly settled back on the floor. He gazed at Fenris with unyielding black eyes, a silent challenge shining in them.

The wolf side of Fenris saw the challenge and the growl grew in volume as well as his grip tightening on Ashton's jaw. Fenris brought his face down so that it was only a few inches from Ashton's, staring him straight in the eye.

Ashtons lip curled back in a silent snarl. Ana stepped forward.Fenris, please, he doesn't know what he's doing.

Fenris was about to bare his own teeth when he stopped abruptly at Ana's words. He gave Ashton one more growl before releasing his grip and standing back up. "I apologize. I forget that not everyone with Werewolf blood was raised the way I was." he told Ana.

Ana nodded.It's okay. You just have to be patient with him.She told him. Ashton flew up as soon as he was released. He was shaking hard.

Fenris looked over at Ashton with a wary look when he jumped up. He nodded in response to Ana's words before moving throughout the house, closing all of the thick, heavy curtains. He made sure that there was no way that moonlight could enter the house through the doors or windows before returning to Ana and Ashton. "You shouldn't have to worry about the moonlight now. Just stay away from the windows." he told Ashton. "Call for me if you need anything." he told Ana.

Ashton swayed slightly on his feet and Ana stepped forward to steady him. He gave the older werewolf a toothy grin before shambling off to explore the house, making sure to walk on the other side of the hallway. Ana smiled at Fenris.Don't worry about us. You go back to what you were doing.She said, the thanks clear in her eyes. She turned to follow after her brother, watching his movement as carefully as if he were a child.

Fenris watched Ana follow after her brother, his broad shoulders sagging a little. If he had been in his wolf form his ears and tail would have seemed to wilt. He missed the happy times he had with her when she had been Bella, when she wasn't having one of her episodes. Now she was a whole different person, had a brother, and felt nothing but possible friendship towards him. He sighed and turned to trudge back up the stairs to his room.

Ana followed her brother for the next few hours, before noticing the slowness of his tired movements. She gently guided him upstairs were he fell asleep promptly on the floor. She sighed and lay down on top of a bed, fully dressed, thinking deeply. She didn't know why this strange man was sacrificing so much for her. She was also confused about her feelings for him. When she woke up, she had been full of love for this man. But she barely knew him. Now she had a dull ache in her heart whenever she looked at him, but chose to ignore it. She believed strongly in independence and chose to fight her own battles. She didn't need anyone. This on her mind, she eventually lulled into a light sleep.

Fenris sat cross-legged in front of his window, letting the moonlight fill his body with strength. No matter his strength, he was a creature dependent on a pack. There were many Weres that lived alone and sometimes preferred it, but they always visited a pack within a year or so. Being exiled into a life of a loner had nearly driven him mad. Pack instincts flowed deeply through his blood.

Ana was sleeping silently when a clap of thunder woke her up. She squealed and fell off the bed, hitting her knees and elbows. She sat up blearily and looked over to see Ashton still sleeping. Another clap of thunder had her scrambling to her feet and she flew to the other end of the room, cowering against a wall. She had been hit by lightning once and it had scarred her for life. Ana jumped when bright lightening filled the room and she ran out, towards Fenris's room.

Fenris had moved from his spot on the floor to his large bed when rain clouds had started to cover the moon. He was sleeping peacefully through the storm. He had lived through worse storms than this and some of the caves had a bad habit of making them seem louder. The door to his room was cracked open just in case Ana or Ashton needed something they could wake him up.

Ana nearly flung open his door and stopped with difficulty when she saw the sleeping figure. She was debating wether to wake him when another clap of thunder made her jump and yell in surprise. She turned and ran out the door and ran through the house until she reached the front door. She started to pull it open.

Fenris woke the moment his door was flung open. He was instantly alert, but was startled when he heard Ana's footsteps racing towards the front door. He Shifted and raced from his room, bounding down the stairs in seconds. The moment he leaped from the stairs an into the main room he started to slide on the hardwood floor, his paws and nails not getting enough traction to stop himself. He slid headlong into the door Ana was trying to open with a loud yelp.

Ana screamed at the yelp and turned to run back up the stairs, stopping to fall back against the banister when thunder shook the house and lightening flashed brightly, showing her terrified face. She scrambled up the staors and tripped at the top, her steps wavering before she slammed against a wall and cowered against it.

Fenris quickly Shifted back, wearing nothing but a pair of old sweatpants. He quickly hurried up the stairs after Ana and stopped when he saw her cowering against a wall. "Ana? What's wrong?" he asked softly.

She was shaking hard. She was about to reply when another boom sounded, rattling the walls.The... the th-th-thunder!!She whispered through chattering teeth. She slid down to the floor and curled up as small as she could against the wall.

Fenris was at her side instantly. He reached out to rub her arm gently. "Shh...It's alright. The storm can't touch you inside the house." he told her softly.

Another clap of thunder shook the house.Its everywhere! Theres no escape!She sobbed, throwing her arms up in a useless attempt to cover herself. Lightening flashed throught the house and Ana jumped and banged herself against the wall.

Fenris quickly moved in front of her. He reached forward and covered her ears with his large hands hands. He had seen some of the mother Weres doing the same thing to their pups when a particularly strong storm passed through and frightened the the young ones.

Ana calmed down considerably when the storm seemed to no longer be there. She slowly looked up at Fenris. Their heads where so close together now. The part of her that was Bella was screaming at her to kiss him, but as she began to lean forward she had second thoughts. She didnt know how Fenris still felt about her. She didnt want to look like a fool. She leaned back against the wall and just waited for the lightening to stop.

Fenris noticed how she started to lean forward, his hopes soaring only to be crushed when she leaned back. His shoulders sagged, but he managed to force a small smile on his face. He kept his hands over her ears until he could only hear the thunder in the distance before he moved back a little. "Better?" he asked her, looking down at the ground to avoid looking into her eyes.

Ana sighed and relaxed slightly.Yes.She debated for a second and then she leaned forward and kissed him on the mouth softly and quickly before getting up and hurrying out, blushing.

Fenris jumped in shock when she kissed him. He watched, stunned, as she hurried away. He was frozen in the middle of the hallway. He couldn't believe it. She had kissed him!
