Engel stiffened slightly as Micah clipped the rope to him. Was this it? Was he taking him away? He walked slowly up to him, his eyes ad. As Engel exhaled, he blew a bit of snot into Micah. He paid no mind to the humorous event, and walked passed Micah, toward the bucket of feed.

Micah watched Engel and couldn't figure out what had gotten into him. He set the bucket in front of the stallion so he could eat. He had been planning on riding out towards the race track to see if any of the horses were out practicing. He thought maybe Engel would like to see some of the fastest horses on the ranch in action.

Engel stared at Micah for a moment, noticing the confusion in his eyes. So. He didn't realize that Engel knew. He snorted, before shoving his face in the bucket, eating greedily.

Micah waited until Engel had finished eating before leading him through the gate and towards one of the barns. He put the bucket away before turning to Engel. He took the lead rope and draped it over the stallions neck and tied the end to the halter next to the clip to form makeshift reins. He looked at Engel's back and then at his face. "May I?" he asked as he gripped a handful of mane, readying himself to jump onto the stallion's back.

After he had finished his meal, Engel had slowly followed Micah to the barn. He didn't like it much. It closed in around him, and made him nervous. When Micah grabbed his mane, and readied to jump, Engel snorted, and lowered himself onto his front knees, slowly. He may as well enjoy one last ride with the boy he loved before he was carted away to some stranger.

Micah smiled and patted Engel on the neck as he settled himself on his back. He gripped the reins/lead rope and some of the stallion's mane. "Let's visit the race track. It's on the far side of the ranch." he told him, pointing in the direction of the racing barns.

Engel grunted, and walked slowly from the barn, heading in the direction Micah had indicated. He lifted his head suddenly, quickening his pace. He wondered if he could accomplish what he'd told the twins.

Micah grinned as Engel picked up his pace. He leaned forward a little and nudged the horse's sides to urge him a little faster. The dirt path they were on would take them to the track.

Engel followed the path, moving into a slow, even canter as Micah urged him on. His fears of abandonment had been pushed to the back of his mind as his excitement grew.

Micah kept his hands on the reins and Engel's mane. He moved with his movements as he moved into a canter. Soon enough the barn and the edge of the track came into sight.

Engel whinnied in joy as they reached the track. He wanted to speed up, to gallop full speed and join in the fun, but he restrained himself. He didn't want his beloved boy to fall from his back. He snorted, straining to not go faster.

Micah reached forward and patted Engel on the neck, chuckling at the whinny of joy. He slid off the stallion's back and let the lead stay around his neck as he moved over to speak with a couple of men by the edge of the track, trusting Engel to stay where he was. There was a few words spoke quickly between them and with a final word from the other men they all shook hands. Micah returned to Engel's side with a big grin on his face. "Wanna race?" he asked the big horse.

Engel stopped and stood still as his boy dismounted. He pranced excitedly as he watched Micah walk over to some men and begin to converse with them. He walked in a circle, and began prancing once again. He gave a little half rear as his boy walked over to him. He nudged him, and stared at him with joyous eyes. As Micah asked the question, he whinnied loudly, and reared again. Once he landed on his for-hooves, and shoved his face into the boy's chest in thanks.

Micah laughed at the stallion's behavior. "I thought you might like to." he commented happily. He moved to Engel's side and jumped onto his back. "Come on big guy, we need to get to the starting gate. There are a couple of thoroughbreds waiting on us." he told him.

Engel quickly adjusted to Micah's weight, and trotted quickly to the track, his heart racing at the thought of crushing the spirit of the two thoroughbreds waiting to challenge him. He was slightly shocked at his thoughts, but they made him feel even more confident. He was going to destroy them.

A man held a gate open so that Micah and Engel could enter the track and then two men came to lead Engel into the starting gate. Micah wasn't sure how the stallion was going to handle being in the small area with the other two younger horses in their own spots, prancing and nickering excitedly.

Engel snorted, and shied away from the two men that came near him. He snorted warily, before walking straight into the small space. He looked back at Micah with a twinkle in his eye.

Micah was surprised that Engel went straight in. Most new horses shied away from the starting gate. While the two other jockeys had saddles and bridles on their horses, Micah only had the halter and lead rope/reins on Engel. They waited for a couple of seconds before the gun was fired and the front of the starting gate sprung open.

Engel shot out of the gate, rushing forward with a great surge of speed. He felt great. He focused on the track ahead, at the soft dirt that sunk as his hooves dug into it. It caused him to be slightly slower than he would have liked, and so he sped up, legs becoming a blur. He felt heat in his shoulders, and realized that his wing markings were glowing again. He increased his speed slightly again, noticing that everything around him was rushing by him at great speeds. Or rather, the other way around.

Micah had been leaning forward when the gate opened, but now he all but clung to the stallion's neck. He felt almost like he was flying.

Engel felt Micah's struggle to cling to him, but he didn't want to decrease his speed, in case the other two horses where close behind him. He couldn't turn his head, for fear of smashing into something.

Micah dug his fingers into Engel's mane and kept his legs clenched against his sides. He wasn't so much afraid of falling as he was of getting trampled by the horses behind the stallion. Falling had a less likely chance of getting him killed than the hard hooves running him over. He clung to the stallion's back and waited for him to reach the finish line.

Engel snorted, his muscles just beginning to tire. He saw the finish line up ahead, and he furrowed his brow in determination. He put on a busrt of speed, and suddenly felt the burning of his wing markings intensify. At a quick glance down, they were glowing brilliantly, even in the bright sunlight. He felt reassured somehow, and focused his attention back on the track.

(I would say by about three to four lengths sound good?)

Micah opened his eyes for a moment, but had to shut them again at the bright light coming from Engel's shoulders. He nearly lost his grip on the stallion's mane, but managed to cling on. He could hear one of the horses put on a burst of speed, but it still wasn't close enough to Engel to pass him.

Engel flew across the finish line, and his heart nearly burst from his chest when he realized he'd finished before the Thoroughbreds. He whinnied excitedly, and slowed, going from a canter, to a trot, and eventually to a walk. He walked in a circle, barely hearing as someone announced that he'd beaten the other horses by three lengths. His joy was almost over whelming, and he had to struggle to keep himself from reaching into the sky. That would've ended up dumping Micah on his butt. Enggel whinnied again, and pranced in his spot, looking at the defeated Thoroughbreds with a happy glimmer in his eyes.
