The Dunes This is a vast desert, where all year except May, it is virtually water less. Miles and miles of nothing but sand, tumble weed, and Cacti. But during May, it is transformed into a lush green paradise, from the storms before. Nakatcha At the base of the mountains, there is a glorious, ancient marble arch. A thin, silvery mist hangs inside it. Take a step through the mist and arrive in a clearing surrounded by pine and cypress. Placed around the clearing are five perfectly round pounds, surface as smooth as glass. As you look into them, each has a different image. One, the scene of Mount Olympus and the valley below; another of the great Egyptian pyramids. In the third, the scene of a castle atop a cliff, overlooking rolling plains, forests, towns and rivers. A fourth shows a view of a long desert, a smudge on the horizon being what you think is a forest, and the last, a victorian castle surrounded by the houses of a town, then surrounded by hills, and woods at the edge.
