Rome kneeled down beside Thistle and looked at her bloody fur. He watched her carefully and barely saw the slight rise of her sides. "She's alive. Ayra go back to the hideout and wait for us there." he told the tiger. He reached down and carefully lifted the heavy wolf. He wished he'd had time to put on another hoodie or even a t-shirt so he could have wrapped it around Thistle, but it was to late to worry about that now. He laid Thistle across Senshi's massive shoulders and climbed onto the horse's back right behind her. He kept her from falling off as Senshi started back towards the hideout, moving as quickly as he could in the dense woods.

Ayra dashed back to the hideout, following the distressed aura of China's mind. She jumped into the entrance and snarled at Fletcher, who stopped trying to influence China and slumped back against the wall, grumpily. China knelt by Silva and layed her head on his chest, listening for signs of a heartbeat. She just barely caught a faint flutter. She sat up and bit her lip, waiting for Rome.

Senshi trotted into the hideout and stood just inside the entrance. Rome slipped off his back and grabbed Thistle. He carried the limp, bleeding wolf over to the bed and laid her down. "How is Silva?" he asked China as he quickly went and got towels and other medical supplies. He quickly started to work on the long gashes that stretched down Thistle's sides. He cleaned them and stitched them to stop the blood flow, before turning her over and doing the same to the other side.

She jumped slightly at the sound of his voice.His heartbeat's faltering, Rome, hurry!She looked at him despairingly.

Rome looked at his friend and could barely see his chest rising. He quickly finished patching Thistle up and wrapped a towel around her. He turned and picked up the spell book from where it had fallen on the ground. He flipped through the pages quickly and finally found what he was looking for. He went and kneeled down next to Silva, placing his hand above his friend's heart. His eyes changed to a glowing green and the tattoos on his hands started to glow. The words of the spell flowed from his mouth and a faint light glowed from both Silva and Thistle. His voice started to get weaker as he continued the spell and he started to sweat at the effort it took to continue. His eyes changed back to blue as he finished the spell and he collapsed.

Thistle let out a small whine as she felt her injuries healing enough to ease the pain. She opened her eyes and whimpered.

China darted across the room to Rome. She put her hand on his cheek.Rome? Are you with me? Out of the corner of her eye she watched for Silva and Thistle. Suddenly, she whipped her head around. Fletcher and China hissed at the exact same time as they heard the same thing. The wet, thumping sound of a human heart, a mile off west. China's throat started burning.

Rome looked up at China and gave her a tired smile. "I'm still here. Is Silva and Thistle alright?" he asked. He heard her hiss and was confused. "What is it? What's wrong?" he asked nervously, trying to sit up only to collapse back down with a pain filled groan. His entire body felt drained. He suddenly heard Thistle let out a whine. The wolf had managed to turn and move to the edge of the bed to look down at Silva. His chest was barely rising. 'It's a full moon. Get us to the moonlight.' said a sudden voice in his head. The voice was so loud he winced at the headache it caused. He glanced up and realized Thistle was looking at him intently. "T-the moonlight?" he asked. 'Yes hurry!" came the voice again.

The sound of the human heart became louder as the human travelled in their direction. China moaned and shot back in to the furtherest corner in the cave, curling up in to a ball. She wasn't going to last much longer, and the human was just coming closer and closer. She looked at Rome, fear, hunger, sadness, resolve and slight anger showing in her eyes, all at once. Fletcher began straining against the ropes again, the tendons standing out against his skin as he fought, his whole body shaking.

Mendax walked along the street slowly. His pace was unhindered by the rush of what few people remained outside. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, head down. He drew no atention to himself as he wandered on the very outskirts of town. His eyes glanced occasionaly at his surounding, but otherwise he moved aimlessly about. It wasn't as if he really had a destination in mind anyways. Sometimes one just had to move and not worry about where they were to end up. It didn't really mater to him anyways. He was looking for a place to be at the moment, and it truly didn't cross his mind why. His life was spent that way, and so it would remain, unquestioned for now.

He frowned as he made it to the very edge of the town. He could just barely sence some presence around there. Something forign. He had noticed similar feeling all throughout this odd town, but only now would he wonder what caused it. Of course he knew what he was, but that didn't stop him from atempting to act a bit normal. Why was something he alone could ever understand. An amused smirk crossed his moth at the simple notion. But back to his inital though. Someone was out there. Hidden perhaps, but not unreachable. If he had wanted he could do as he pleased and invade, but that wasn't what he did, much less a style of choice for him. He continued walking. There were other thing that bothered him. A feeling of stress, an urge paired with longing comeing from somewhere. Oh how classic of him to stumble apon such things as this.

It wasn't as if he minded being in this presence. He had noticed the feeling of things other than your average human occupying this strange land. It was out of character, he thought, for such large gatherings of the type. But, perhaps something had drawn them to others of their own likeness, as it had him. But the wanderings of Mendax himself were strictly for him to reason. He sighed, sitting on the low branch of a tree on the edge of the woods. Someone was about. He might even intend to look into this. But for now he was preoccupied with his own thought.

China fought for as long as she could, and then she lost her hold on humanity. With a feral growl she shot past Rome and outside the cave. Her instincts gave her the exact location of the human, and so she ran, faster than a full human could see. She made plans in her head as she ran, how to kill this ignorant human. She would first distract the off - guard human with her beauty ... nothing could with stand her form of magic. Then she would go in for the quick kill, an immediate snap of the spinal cord and the neck at the same time.

Her running slowed as she neared to the sound of the heart. Her mind was screaming at her to stop, practically begging her. The small voice of her conscious finally stopped as she turned it off, starting to smell the human as well as hear it. It smelled exactly as she remembered, sweet, coppery and ultimately irresistible. Oh, yes, she had promised herself that she would never drink from a human again, but it was very much the human's fault for not listening to their poor instincts. Now they had to die. Oh, well. She'd make it quick.

He stiffened instantly, head shooting up. The sence that one was geting closer overwhelmed him. His dull grey eyes were narrowed and he glanced around, wondering if he shouldn't break the commitment he had to himself and find out what all was going on here. But he didn't. Nope. For now Mendax planed to play the part of a silly and ignorant human, with a twist. Of course he could end his curiosity. He could do what he should have been know for. Yet, there was little fun in that. Besides, he had a sence of irony in it. No point in spoiling his own aparent entertainment just yet, not when it was all only begining. That would be sad, not to mention agrivating. Like a cat playing with mice, he would let this go on. The irony in his mental metaphor causing a bemused smile to cross him mouth.

Rome watched as China ran out of the hideout and managed to stand up shakily. He pulled some of the energy from the ground itself and shook as it stregthened his body. He quickly called for Senshi and put Silva onto his back. He lifted Thistle into his arms and carried the wolf outside, with Senshi following, to a clearing full of moonlight. He laid the spellcastor and his demon on the soft grass and muttered a protective spell around them. He glanced at his friend before leaping onto the stallion's back. The huge horse surged forward as he caught a glimse of Rome's thoughts, quickly finding China's scent. The horse raced through the trees and also picked up the scent of another creature. He snorted nervously as he realized it wasn't human. Rome spotted China and a stranger through the trees. He urged the horse forward between China and the stranger, jumping to the ground beside her. "China, what's going on?" he asked, grabbing her arms.

China jumped in surprise and for a second her brain switched back on and she gave him a confused look.Rome?But her brain then switched off again, and she snarled, trying to break his grip, fighting to get to the apparently human person. Were they human? She didn't care, as long as their heart was beating, her throat was in torture. Her silver eyes flashed bright, crimson red for a split second, and then turned back to silver again.Dammit, move! I'm THIRSTY!She growled, in a voice that wasn't hers. She twisted her head, trying to bite him. The monster inside her was rearing it's head once again.

Rome grabbed China's arms in a tighter grip. "China, focus!" he told her sharply. He muttered a spell that stilled the air and stopped any scents in the air.

She could still hear the heartbeat, but her throat was not burning so badly anymore. She still fought, but in a weaker, unsure manner. Her eyes went wide with confusion.

Eyeing the vampire warily Mendax lept straight up with a cat-like agility. His narrowed eyes opened all the way, half in suprise, and half because he obviosly couldn't bother with the act right now. His eyes were a rock grey, almost glowing like a cats in the moonlight. To further what made him so cat-like, his pupils were slited like one. He growled low in his throat. He wispered words of a strange and demonic sounding laguage that sounded like crackling flames. The sound in his chest scilenced, only he could hear the rushing of blood in his ears, the pounding as he atempted to calm himself and regain his easy calm.

Droping to the ground he straightened, standing at his full height. He couldn't help a look of iritated distain. He didn't care to have himself interupted by an atempted killing. It was just wrong, "Hm." He grumbled, a clear plastic bag of something showing up in his hand. He tossed it towards China with annoyance, "See if that might satisfy you then?" He murmered. The bag contained some blood. Thank god he was usualy prepared.

She gasped, a sound of pure, broken agony, and struggled with all of her strength against Rome's hold. Her unconcious mind screamed at Senshi, telling him to warn Rome not to let her drink it, the monster was fighting to get out, the blood was a door.
