Rosetta's eyebrows rose, suddenly curious. "A friend?" she asked, a small smile on her lips.

A friend. You... You don't know them.She had on a nervous grin the whole time.

Rosetta grinned and giggled like a little girl. "I take it he's a friend you want to keep from your father?" she asked.

Definitely.She smiled and giggled as well. Her face became confused.Where is he?

"I won't say a word." Rosetta told her, acting like she was zipping her lips and throwing away the key. Her grin faded at Johanna's question and she looked away. "I'm not sure. I went for a walk and when I got back he wasn't here." she told her, only telling her part of the truth.

She looked out the window. A woman was running down the street, screaming her head off.MY HUSBAND WAS MURDERED, MURDERED!

Rosetta put a hand to her mouth to cover a gasp when she saw and heard the woman. She felt a pang in her chest as everything clicked together. Her and Sweeney's earlier arguement, Sweeney's disappearence, and now the woman's husband. She quickly stepped forward and shut the curtains in the front room. She turned to look at Johanna. "I want you to stay here and don't go anywhere." she told the girl before darting outside and approaching the frantic woman.

She did as she was told, scared of the screaming woman.

The woman grabbed Rosettas arm. Her eyes were wide and her hair was a mess.Help, help, you have to help!

Rosetta wrapped her arm around the frantic woman's shoulders and started leading her slowly down the street. "What happened? Did you see anything?" she asked, talking in a soothing voice even though she was almost as frantic as the woman.

She moaned.My husband's throat was slit.„

Rosetta rubbed the woman's shoulder, trying to comfort the grieving woman. "Did you see who did it?" she asked quietly.

She shivered.Yes, yes, we have to call the police!

Rosetta's thoughts were chaotic, but she didn't let it show. "Who was it? Who did you see?" she asked.

A pale man covered in blood with black hair and a razor.She was shaking violently.

Rosetta barely held back a gasp as the woman discribed Sweeney. She couldn't let the woman tell the police and risk getting Sweeney put in jail or worse. "Are you completely sure? Do you know his name?" she asked. She was desperately hoping she wouldn't have to take this woman's life.

He looked like my sons barber, Mr Todd. I must go tell the police, come with me...She tried to pull her with her.

Rosetta's chest tightened when the woman mentioned a son. She didn't want to take the woman's life and orphan her son. Her green eyes suddenly flashed as she met the woman's. She could see the woman's memories flash through her own mind. Without even thinking she selected any memory the woman had of Sweeney and erased them all.

She stumbled and blinked groggily.What's going on?

Rosetta barely held back a gasp as she realized what she had done. She quickly shook off her shock and urged the woman down the street. "You fainted a moment ago. You were just telling me how you saw a short, tan man with brown hair kill your husband. You said he looked like some stranger from out of town. We need to report it to the police." she said urgently. "I'm so sorry for your lose." she said, her voice quiet and soothing.

She nodded.Oh... Oh yes.I remember. Thank you for your help. She turned and walked away for the police.

Rosetta watched the woman leave before rushing back to the house. She hurried through the door and slammed it behind her. She leaned back against his, panting from her run. She was shaking from the realization of what she had just done, her entire body trembling. That woman's memories were gone with a simple look into Rosetta's eyes.

Johanna ran in.What is it? Whats wrong?

Rosetta looked up at Johanna and managed a shaky smile. "Nothing sweetheart. Everything's fine. Has Sweeney come home yet?" she asked, trying to get a hold on herself.

Her face was confused.No. Where is he?

Rosetta shrugged her shoulders tiredly. "I don't know. I wish I did, but I don't." she told Johanna. She felt a flash of pain in her stomach and rubbed it lightly. "I'm going to head off to bed. If you need anything just come and get me." she told the girl before heading down the hall to her and Sweeney's room. She put on a simple nightgown and got into bed, groaning as another pain flashed in her lower stomach. She new it was the baby, but she didn't know why her stomach hurt. She was only about a month along.
