China screamed and ran to him, putting her arms on his shoulders.Oh my God, Rome!! Are you alright?

Rome jerked his head up at China's scream and looked around, thinking the shadows were still there. He tried to stand up but fell back on his knees. Beads of sweat dotted his forehead and his skin became increasingly warmer, as if he had a high fever. He gave China a small smile and wiped some blood off of his chin. "I'll be fine. I guess the poison was a little stronger than I thought it was. I guess he's getting serious now. I don't think I'll be reversing any more spells soon." he told her, trying to keep the exhuastion and pain out of his voice. He suddenly grabbed his head with both hands and groaned. "Yup. He's definitely getting serious." he muttered.

She started to cry.The reverse spell didn't work, Rome. You were to weak.She hugged him, her hands on his shoulders, her head on his chest.Please don't die Rome.

Rome held China in a light hug. "I'll be fine. I'm not going to die that easily." he told her, hiding the pain with a small smile. He forced himself up and stood unsteady for a few moments. "We'll just have to try the spell again." he said, reaching down to grab the book.

She reached down and grabbed it before he could.No. You're too weak. You'll hurt yourself.She shook her head.I can't let you do that.

Rome frowned and looked at China. "I'm not about to let you live any longer with those things after you." he told her. "I saw what they can do. I'm not going to let them hurt you anymore." he said. He had alwas kept to himself and never even thought of bringing anyone to his hideout, until he met China. When he saw her bleeding wrist, her being thrown against the wall, and when the slashes appeared on her he had never been so afraid. He hadn't been afraid of his own safety but for China's life. The last time he had been that afraid was when he was a child, and those memories still gave him nightmares that woke him up screaming. He shuddered and reached for the book again.

She went to stop him again, but not before a blank look crossed her eyes and she passed out, a slash showing on her shoulder blades. The shadow flew around the room, knocking things over and shreiking, trying to swipe Rome.

Rome reached out and wrapped his arms around China. He turned so that his back hit the ground and cushioned China's fall before rolling over to be above her. He was using his own body to protect her. He cried out in pain as he felt his back being slashed. Suddenly the temperature in the room dropped and Rome felt something brush over his skin. He gasped, his eyes turning a golden color. The words to the reversal spell flowed easily from his mouth as if he had memorized it, but it wasn't the same as the last time he had tried the spell. This time he didn't read from the book, his eyes were gold not green, and it sounded like two voices were coming out of his mouth. As soon as the last word to the spell was said his eyes changed back and the room got warmer. He heard the shadow scream and watched as it dissappeared. He felt his arm start to sting and glanced at it. On his bare arm was two swirling lines that came together to form a cresent moon that looked as if they had been caused by claws. He was frozen in shock. It was the same mark his mother used to draw when she wrote his name. She always wrote his first name then she'd draw the mark, but she'd never told him what it meant. He knew that some how his mother had helped him protect China.

China woke up quickly. She took a deep, gasping breath, then looked around. She felt different, lighter, free. The shadow was gone. And her shoulders stung like hell. She looked at Rome and her mouth opened, her eyes brimming with tears. She pushed up and over so that she was on top, then lay with her head on his chest, sobs racking her body.

Rome gasped as China rolled them over and cried out slightly in pain. His back was on fire from all of the slashes from the shadow. He ignored the pain and wrapped his arms around China, being careful not to touch her shoulders. "China? China what's wrong? Are you alright?" he asked franticaly trying to look her over for anymore injuries.

She swallowed and nodded. She stroked her hand across his cheek.You've set me free... I... I dont know how to repay you...

Rome leaned his head against China's hand. "There's no reason for you to repay me." he told her, relief spreading through him when he realized she was okay. He went to move and instantly regretted it as it caused pain to flash across his back, making him gasp.

Her eyes filled with concern.You're hurt.

Rome gave her a small smile. "I'm fine. The shadow just wanted to make sure I remembered it." he said jokingly. He lifted China up and stood up. He sat China on the bed and handed her the first aid kit. He walked over to a mirror on the wall and looked over his shoulder to see his back in the reflection. It was covered in deep, long, nasty looking slashes and the mark on his arm was still stinging. Blood was dripping from his back and landing on the floor. He knew he'd had worse injuries, but it didn't mean it didn't hurt.

She tended to her injuries, then walked over to him, biting her lip at the slashes on his back.Want help, or can you reach?

Angelos walked down the street at an easy gait. He wasn't in a rush, no. Just seeing what all was happening around. He rand a hand through his blond and green hair, sighing. So far things were just way too boring. He wore a smokey grey backpack with the hilts of two swords poking out the top. He was a force to econ with for sure.

The tall man looked suprised when he noticed the two people from across the street. He leaned on a lamp-post and considered. Finaly he moved forward, wanting to investigate this some more. From the looks of the pair, it could only get exciting from here. Maybe. Whatever happened, it sure did a number on them, to the point he held back a scoff. Standing a short distance away he said, "Well, well. Looks like you lot sure know how to get into some trouble." His steel grey eyes glimmered with both amusement and concern, and odd mix.

(um... China and Rome are in Rome's hideout.)
