When a small girl walked in the ring with a pony. " im ready for my lesson" she yelled, looking at Cassie.

Maple slowed spy down so he would not get spooked and over the jump again doing what Cassie said and Vela! She knocked down the same poll.

"HAH HA!"" you can't jump, i can!" the girl pointed at a jump much to big for a 9 year old to jump. The little girl tried geting onto the pony( ever so small) no use, she could not get up.

Spy let out a whinny which was like a laugh at the girl trying to get on the small pony, then he snorted

(Spy is a Stallion? Correcto?)

Spy waited for Maple's orders, while Maple waited for Cassie's orders, he snorted pawing the ground then he noticed one of his nails loose in his horseshoe he neighed and lifted up that hoof trying to tell Maple.

The jump was just over 2 foot when cassie put the pole up again. "Alright, try again. Until he gets it right."

Spy had his hoof dangling in the air trying to tell Cassie something, he knew if he tried going over the jump he would fall by tripping over the poles from his horseshoe being loose.

She pushed spy into canter.

Spy cantered but he knew if he tried he would trip and hurt him and Maple at the same time, he snorted freaking out from what might happened and became spooked and skidded to a stop quickly he backed up he held his hoof in the air and neighed loudly trying to get attention.

MAple din;t see it and pushed him forward.

He cantered and tried to go over the jump but knocked both poles down and tumbled from his horseshoe falling off, He trotted back round but stepped on a sharp rock cutting his hoof on the inside the hoof without the shoe he neighed loudly and reared a tiny rear.

Maple slipped down from his back. "oh my! cassie! look at this!"

Spy had his hoof in the air his hoof was cut on the inside which it hurt a lot but he was bearing it mostly, he groaned a tiny bit in pain.

That's quite dramatic for a loose shoe

Cassie grabbed a hammer that was hanging on a hook on the inside of a standard, and picked up the shoe. She pulled a few spare nails from her pocket, and the shoe. "Well boy, all that fuss about your loose shoe made ya hurt yourself. Calm down ill fix it in no time." She crouched, placing a thumb on either side of the wound. The hoof began knitting itself together, from the deepest point of the wound outwards. She massaged it gently. "Its still going to have some bruising, but that's it." She stuck the nails back in her pocket. "We won't shoe him again for a few days. He'll be fine to ride, it won't hurt him now the shoes completely off, but might be a tad uncomfortable."

Spy calmed down he let out a little spooked neigh not wanting to jump it again, he did a small rear not that high up then he came back down easily, he trotted about on the dirt arena and snorted.

Mapel reached for the reins.

Spy snorted and lied down on the ground and started rolling in the dirt like a dog almost would..

Horses do it with mud XD...)

(Mm but that's a different scenario completely, if you think about it.

Haha yeah because horses roll-
If in a herd scenario: to associate their smell with that of their herd, as all of the herd will roll in the same roundabout spot(leading to loss of grass, aka dirt patches, which when wet becomes mud)
If in an itchy, uncomfortable scenario; colic causes pain, rolling helps relieve it, so when uncomfortable or itchy, stop, drop, and ROLL
Or just for pleasure, like when I was holding a big gelding who was on stall arrest due to lameness, letting him graze, he decided to live it up and roll. Funtimes.
And for horse that are loners, who you let out to pasture and they roll in their special spot, I don't know. Maybe its similar to the herd reason, and smells like them? Hmm who knows.
I have no clue where I learned this all from, but its in my brain. Tad bit of an animal lover and a horse freak )

Cassie frowned. "Calm down Spy. The jump won't hurt you. Nothing here will hurt you. Don't worry."

Spy stopped rolling and was stuck on his back and he looked at Cassie, he got up and bobbed his head in the direction of the sharp rock he stepped on.

"Oh alright, that did, but I fixed it. And that's not the jumps fault. That's because you ran around, hmm." She. Had an idea all of a sudden. "Ill be back." She disappeared into the barn, grabbing the rock on the way, and tossing it into a flowerbed.

Spy snorted and trotted around in the dirt more, he started galloping and he leaped a jump that was 4 ft but knocked down only one pole.He whinnied in proudness.

Cassie came back with a golden chestnut arabian trotting behind her, snaffle bridle on and nothing else. He pranced and tossed his head as Cassie locked the gate, and then put the pole back up. It was one of their lowest jumps. They didn't have any less experienced riders, but in the shed had plenty of blocks and poles in it, for lunging and warm ups. Cassie patted the geldings neck. "This is Ransom. We're going to play follow the leader."
