He stepped back out, and looked around, seeing something satisfying. A three-walled lean-too, sheltered from the wind and rain but at the same time open. "Come on boy." He said, jogging towards it.

Cheveyo followed the boy. He stopped inside the lean-to and shook his body sending water flying. He stood by the entrance to the shelter, shivering as his soaked mane and tail clung to his icy body.

He searched through the cabinets on one wall, finding some towels. Shivering, he gently began to dry cheveyo with the soft towels, then himself. He dumped the now-soaked ytowels in the straw, and rummaged around for some food, pulling out two apples, a carrot, a bag of peppermints, and a bucket or oats.

Cheveyo stood still as Nathan dried him off. He noticed a small blanket setting in the back of the lean-to and walked over to it. He picked up it up in his mouth and carried it over to the boy. He draped the blanket over Nathan's shoulders and then moved over to the entrance, watching the storm. He turned to look back over his shoulder when he caught the smell of food, his ears flicking forward.

He thought back about a few things his brother had taught him. He carried the bucket to two taps in the wall, putting a small bit of hot water into the oats. He then began to cut the apple into small chunks, adding them, and them some mueseli. "There boy. Nice and warm, and it'll give you heaps of energy." He set the bucket down and put the rest of the food away, save for a pocketful of mints.

Cheveyo walked over to the bucket and sniffed it. He looked up at the boy before he started to eat. He ate quickly. When he was done he walked back to the entrance to watch the storm. It seemed like the storm would never end, and the loud thunder made him nervous.

Nathan walked over, leaning on Cheveyo and draping the blanket over his withers as well. He yawned, closing his eyes.

Cheveyo turned his head towards Nathan and nuzzled the boy's cheek. He listened for any dangers, but the only danger seemed to be the cold wind. He let his knees buckle and sighed as he laid down, his sore muscles aching from his run from the wranglers. He shivered as a cold wind blew into the lean-to, slowly turning the water droplets on his body into ice. He laid his large head down on the ground and sighed. He felt like all of his strength was draining away.

He went to the wall of cabinets, and pulled out a few thick woolen rugs. He lay them over Cheveyo, to warm him up. Then he sat next to him, pulling the blankets over his shoulders.

Cheveyo turned his head towards Nathan as the boy put the rugs over him, gratitude in his eyes. He snorted softly and laid his large, heavy head on Nathan's lap.

He stroked the stallions nose, sighing. "Let's hope this storm stops soon."

Cheveyo snorted softly and tried to stay awake, but he was to tired. He let his eyes close and his breathing evened out as he fell asleep with his large head still in Nathan's lap.

Nathan looked down at him and smiled. Then he leaned against his side, cradling Cheveyos head as he drifted off too.

Cheveyo woke up to the sound of birds singing. He looked outside of the lean-to and noticed the storm had stopped. He glanced over at Nathan before pushing the boy away a little so he could stand up. He had to struggle slightly to stand and when he finally managed to stand he swayed. His head hurt and he felt sick to his stomach. He stumbled out of the shelter and looked around. The sun was just rising and a few humans were awake and moving around. He looked over and saw the woods not far away. He felt water drip on his face and went to shake his head, but regretted it when pain filled his head.

Nathan woke up too, head spinning. He gathered the horse rugs and blankets off the ground, folding them on a shelf before stepping outside. He raised a hand in a small wave to someone, and gently stroked Cheveyos neck. "Rough Night?"

Cheveyo looked over at Nathan and nodded. He was dizzy and his legs shook, all due to the run from the wranglers and then being out in the storm. He looked over when the boy waved at someone and snorted nervously. He turned his head and nudged Nathan with his nose, wondering where they should go or what they should do.

He gently twined his fingers through a chunk of Cheveyos mane, and glanced towards the bigger road. "There's a gate at the back of the property. He suggested. Funny, that. When he talked to Cheveyo, he felt completely comfortable, and almost as if they inderstood one another.

Cheveyo nodded and looked at Nathan. He wasn't sure where to go and he waited patiantly for the boy to guide him.

He started towards the paddocks, and a trail running between them.

Cheveyo pranced nervously beside Nathan. The sight of fences made him worried. He jumped side ways when an open gate sqeaked ahead of them. He stopped in his tracks. The open gate was the only thing seperating him from the woods unless he went back through the town, but there were to many people there. The sqeaky gate made him nervous. He kept thinking about what would happen if it closed on them.

"Shhh. Easy boy." He said softly, pushing the gate shut so they could get past. "Almost there."

Cheveyo relaxed slightly and walked beside Nathan, his ears flicking to catch any strange sounds. He turned his head in alarm when loud barking started up behind them. He reared up slightly when he saw a long haired, black dog running towards them, a leash dragging from his collar and an angry man chasing him and shouting. The dog looked very similar to a wolf and Cheveyo panicked. He reared up and lurched forward, going straight into a gallop towards the nearly six foot fence that seperated him from the woods. At the last minute, he jumped, soaring into the air and clearing the top of the fence with room to spare. Even with his heavy mustang build he had always been an excellent jumper, and would probably put some champion show jumpers to shame. He landed gracefully on the other side of the fence and looked back in time to see the dog's owner grab the leash and drag the dog away. He whinnied back to Nathan and tossed his head, waiting for the boy.

Nathan stood, awestruck. He shook his head, climbing the fence and dropping to his heet. He stroked Cheveyos neck. "That was amazing boy."

Cheveyo looked at the boy curiously. He didn't understand what the boy found amazing about jumping the fence. He shook his large head and looked from Nathan to his back, waiting for the boy to climb on.

He laughed, shaking his head. "No boy, that was pretty amazing still." He nimbly swung up onto Cheveyos back, looping his fingers through the stallions black mane.
