Ricky stood at the gate,watching them.

Indigo tried her best to be as light as possible. She nudged Strike softly, asking for just a bit more.

She threw up her head, suspiciously watching Ricky. But when she felt the pressure on her sides, she forgot about him, and dropped her head, lengthening and speeding up her stride, taking it up a notch.

Indigo stroked her neck gently, "Go as fast as you want, its just me and you."

She tore through the field, galloping around the edge of a large, sparkling lake.

Indigo smiled, and patted her neck gently, "Attah girl, go wherever you want."

She snorted, steadily galloping.

Indigo tipped her head into the wind, she felt mist on her face, she looked around, spotting a lake nearby. "Want to cool off?"

She snorted, still galloping aroind the edge of it, but her coat was darkening with sweat.

"Easy girl..." She gently squeezed the reins.

She snorted, opening her mouth, but slowed slightly, dropping down to the avergae gallop.

She ran her hand along her neck, enjoying the wind on her face.

She snorted, tossing her head.

(hmmm... what to say... what to say??)

"What do you say girl? Wanna enter a race in a few weeks?"

She snorted, bobbing her head and snorting.

Indigo laughed, "Well, we better start training."

She snorted, lengthening her stride again, breezing, splashing water as she ran through the shallows of the lake.

Indigo got back up in her jockey position and gave Strike some rein. The mist of the water splashed on her face as it brought back memories of her being a child and riding on the beach on her beloved horse Magnet. She got lost in thought and didn't really pay attention to what was going on around her.

She snorted each breath, leaping fom the water and continuing alongside the river that ran from the lake.

She patted Strike's neck gently, "Good girl."

Ermmmmm.......)

Suddenly a flock of birds leapt into the air at her feet. Strike squealed and reared, the ground beneath her back hooves sending them tumbling into the river.

Indigo felt the cold water on her back as she fell into the water, she held her breath, but hit her head on a rock, knocking her out.

Strike got pummeled by the water. As she went under, she saw Indigo black out. This girl was kind to her. And the first to be. She scrambled towards her, the water slowing her down, and pushed her up onto the bank. She tried to clambour up after, but the rock gave way and she snorted in pain. Shetossed her head, but her reins had caught, and so she dropped her head on the steep, muddy bank, and stood in the cold water, on three legs, shivering, and ignoring the tightness in her mouth.

Indigo stirred, she woke up with a start, seeing Strike she lurched forward towards her. Her head throbbed but she ignored the pain. She took hold of Stirke's bridle and gently but quickly pulled on it, loosening the pull in her mouth, "Come on girl.. get a grip on something.!"

She snorted softly. The time Indigo had been blacked out, the river had drained her strength. She was shaking all ove, but hearing Indigos voice, she tried again, trying to leap up the side of the river, but the dirt just broke away underfoot. She nickered helplessly. She couldn't do it, not alone.
