The tall, muscular Arabian galloped across the plains, her white mane swirled in the wind she was creating. Her tail was held high like a ribbon, angle white with green mixed into it. It was died, and fake, but it would never go away, it was permenint. And it felt like it belonged there. Her coat stood out against her odd colored mane and tail. A deep jet black was what covered her body. She wished she could whinny, wish she could scream with joy. But no.. She was mute. Her happieness faded, her tail lowered as her thoughts came rushing back.

She was under a tree. The tree had bright pink flowers blooming in it. She stared at them in amazment. Then a sharp pain in her stomach. She whinnied. She stretched out, ready for the long awaited foal. She pushed, and a foal was in the world. She whinnied again. This time, a small shrill voice replyed. Jade smiled at her baby, the complete oppisite of her. Crystal white coat, jet black mane and tail.
Jade heard a growl. Her ears pinned against her head. She tried to stand but lost her balance, a deadly mistake. She fell to the ground, as a big mounain lion jumped onto the newborn foal.
Jade screamed at it, bending her head around to bite at the lion. It slashed her throat. She tried to call out, but no sound imerged from her bleeding throat.
Tears were down her face as she managed to stand, she aimed a kick right at the lion's head. Dead on, it fell to the ground with a sickly thud. She dragged it away, stomping on it angirly.
Her foal lay on the ground, shaking furiously. Blood poured out of her body. So new into the world, but already her life was gone.
Her soul floated away from her still body. Off to heaven, to be reborn and hopefully life a longer, more pain-free life. All she had known in her 6 minutes of life was pain. Jade shook her head in disbelieve, how could this happen to her, what had she done. She cried silently, trapped in a body of no voice. She curled around the dead, soul-less body and wept. She couldn't stop the tears, she hadn't even known this baby, but still, she had lost part of her heart. She had waited many, long, cold, sleepless months, hiding away up on a mountain, ironically, to stay away from the mountain lions. This made her laugh with hate. Her eyes sunk into her skull, her heart shrank and lost its happieness. How could she live now? When the one thing she had promised to care for, and to love, and protect had gone away? All from a simple misplacement of her hooves.

Her banner of a tail came sailing down, clamped down. Her mane stood still, laying against her black neck. She pawed the ground angirly, hatefully. And she waited.

Haru stalked onto the land, the sun gleaming off his charcol coat. He spotted the mare and trotted up to her quickly. "Are you ok?"

She turned on him, anger in her eyes. She pawed the ground, tearing it up and shook her head.

He looked down at her throaght. "Oh. I'm . . . . sorry."

She rolled her eyes, shes heard this crap before.

He turned away, trying not to act so empathetic. "Sorry." He winced. He knew he said sorry to much. "Sor- I mean, I . . . have to go.

She lurched forward towards him, she had a sorry look in her eyes, asking him silently not to go.

He turned back to her, a sympathetic look in his eye. He smiled grimly. "I won't."

She gave him a slight smile, before looking around, she spotted what she was looking for and nuzzled it, it was a shiny green rock, Jade.

"Your name? Jade?"

She nodded, flicking her tail gently.

He smiled. "I'm Haru."

She smiled. She hated the fact that she couldn't communicate.

He looked at her, his eyes soft. "I'm sure we can figure out a way. Hey, I could translate." (he can read minds)

She smiled and nodded her head happily.

He laughed, "I'll take that as a yes."

Yes, that's a yes. She smiled again.

He nodded, "Good."

"Hey, I understand."

He nodded, "I know."

Would you like to go do something? she smiled.
