Promise sighed and flicked his tail over his mate's rump. "Shakira, I have to find Cloud. I'll return soon and we'll get back to buisness." He gently nuzzled her muzzle and stepped into a slow canter. "Coming?'' he called at Sunny.

She glanced away at his show of affection, and cantered with him, but not too close, trying to ignore the pang of loneliness in her heart. Her brother had his herd to take care of, her sister had nothing to do with them, and was in her own herd. Sunny lived for her foals now, but soon they'd be gone too. She sub consciously let out a gusty sigh.

Promise slowed to a brisk trot as they entered the caves. He turned to glance at Sunny. He arched an eyebrowthing. "Where is this 'merging' you speak of?" he asked, indifferent to Sunny's sighing.

" You mean where your cave joins my cavern? Like I know, I haven't come in here. Remember how I was when we met? The shadows don't like me, and I don't like them." She shuddered, and could already feel the cold sensation envelope her body. She let out her whinny, the call reserved for her foals. "I hope Dots just keeps where he is." She murmured.

Promise would've let out a snarky comment about the first time they had met had he not been worried for his son. He flared his nostrils, trying to catch the scent of his son. He turned abruptly and wandered down another dark corridor.

She followed, ignoring the sensation of ice water trickling along her spine. She closed her eyes for a moment, and then nipped promise roughly, veering into another cavern, that shortcutted towards the caves connecting to hers. The faint smell of herbs lingered in the air, the same scent that perfumed her grotto.

Promise growled and muttered threats under his breath, following Sunny with his head low.

She rolled her eyes. "Calm down." She hissed, stopping when the tunnel split to four parts.

Promise's ears pricked and he stood high, staring down the tunnels. "Second one from the left," he stated almost robotically.

"Cloud." She called, turning into the cave. "Cloud, where are you?"

Promise stopped and held his breath, being completely silent so he could hear. His ears twitched and he stepped back into a quick walk down the caves.

Sunny stopped dead, staring straight down. There was a canyon, dropping about 10 ft. And huddle at the bottom was Cloud, shivering.

Promise's breath caught in his throat. "Hell no," he breathed angrily. "How are we gonna get him out of there?!" he whisper-yelled as not to scare his son.

" I'm working on it, okay?" She snorted, shifting hoof to hoof, and then took a breath, leaping down into the trench. She lay down beside Cloud, moving. Him so he lay mostly on her, not the cold stone.

Promise sighed. "Now we have to get two horses out of a pit. Great." He cocked his head in thought. "Rope?" he asked, mostly to himself.

She flicked her ears back. "When he stops shaking, ill push him up, and then ill figure a way out after." She wrapped her neck around him, murmuring softly.

Promise nodded and gently murmured a few words to himself. King slipped from the shadows holding a small fuzzy horse blanket in his gargantuan jaws. Promise sighed at thefact that he still had that from his past, but took it and tossed it down into the pit anyways. "Eh?"

Sunny pulled the blanket over Cloud, shivering slightly, but no blanket would warm her. Her coat was a dull, dark grey.

Promise cursed under his breath, realizing what was happening to Sunny. "Sunny, I'm going to jump down and help you out. I'll take care of Cloud, you go outside and get help. You can't stay in this cave," he ordered, tensing his leg muscles to leap into the pit.

She snorted. "This is my son. He's all I have now. Even my brother hasn't come around for a while."

Promise glowered and lowered his voice. "He won't be anything to you when you're dead, precious."

"But...." Her voice was strained. "I can't leave him."
