Denis walked over to Daioh in the pasture, "Common boy, time to train." Denis saddled and bridled Daioh in the pasture and walked him into the jumping arena.
Denis mounted up and trotted Daioh. Denis used the reins and bent Daioh's neck and did a couple 20 meter circles and leg yeilds.
When Daioh was warmed up Denis got off and set up a six bar course. Daioh backed up a bit, he had never done six bar before.
Denis smiled and put all the jumps down so they were just poles. He got on Daioh and trotted over the poles then cantered. He got off again and moved them up to small cavaleteis and got back on.
He went over those at a trot then canter, Daioh began to loosen up after the cantering. Denis set the jumps up to a foot and went over them just a canter that time.
He moved it up to foot and a half. And went over that. Daioh bent his neck as he waited for Denis to set the jumps at 3 feet. Daioh did this one by himself.
Tucking his front legs up nicely and pushing off the ground at perfect moment each time, not to early, not to late, right on time. Denis moved the jumps up to 4 feet and Daioh got a bit nervouse but shook it off.
He went over those perfectly. Denis moved the jumps up to 6 feet and got back on, "Alright boy, here we go." He nudged Daioh into a canter and Daioh took the jumps with complete ease and confidence.
"Whaddya say boy, Wanna try 7 feet? or 6 and half." Daioh pawed the ground twice and Denis moved the jumps to 6 and a half. Daioh took them easily, the highest jumps he had completed in his 2 years of jumping high jumps.
"7?" Daioh nodded excidedly. Denis moved all the poles except one out of the way and raised that one to 7 feet. Daioh pranced happily and Denis got on.
They went in a nice gentle canter around the ring once then turned to the jump, Daioh lengthaned his stride and sped up so he could clear it.
The next thing that happened went in slow motion. As Daioh went up he heard a sickening crack. Daioh expected to feel pain but as he wondered about it he head Denis scream.
Daioh was already in the air, but he still tried to stop, he crashed down on the fence and stumbled to the ground, Daioh fell hard on his leg and rolled over, he whinnyed loudly then passed out.
Denis saw the ground coming towards him, then everything went black.

Daioh woke up with a start, he whinnied loudly calling for help, pain mixed in with his voice. He stood, trying to put his leg on the ground but it hurt to put it on the ground , he galloped three legged to Cassie and whinnied loudly. His ears were pinned flat against his head and the whites of his eyes were showing. He neighed harshly, the sound scratching his throat. He reared up, forgetting about his leg and when he came back down to the ground, pain shot up into his leg, he collapsed on the ground, still trying to neigh.

Grant rushed out, a first-aid kit in hand at the sight of the two. She hurried to Daioh and examined his leg,which looked like it was broken. She turned to Denis, who looked like he might have had a concussion but could just have a serious headache.

Cassie appeared, sprinting across the courtyard and into the ring, a very skinny black thouroughbred stallion following. She gave the strange girl one glance, and dropped to her knees beside the horse. "Daioh, I need you to calm down." She said softly, putting a hand on his shoulder. There was a clatter, and lee jogged over, putting a hand over her mouth. She crouched beside daioh, tracing a symbol across his forehead, and the knelt beside denis. "Denis. If you can hear me, open your eyes."

Denis's eyelids fluttered and he tried to sit up, he yelled in pain,"My knee!" He groaned as he tried to maneuver himself.

Daioh relaxed now that someone was there to help. He licked his leg softly and whinnied.

"I know, I know." She murmered. She gently pushed his muzzle away, carefully wrapping her hands around the break. She leaned over it, concentrating hard, as the bone shifted under the skin, repairing. There was still pain and bruising, but the leg wasn't broken. She ran her hands over his body, making sure of any other injuries.

Lee sighed. "Don't sit up, dummy. Lay down again." She winced slightly when he yelled.

He laughed in spite of his pain and lay back down.
Daioh nuzzled her gently, licking his leg again.

Cassie smiled and patted his neck. "Rest that leg."
Lee giggled as blackjack appeared, looming over denis. "Um, hey boy, you shouldn't be in here." She stood, grabbing his mane and leading him to his paddock as Cassie sat beside denis. "Your not riding for a couple of weeks. And even if you could ride, you wouldn't be riding daioh. Bad bruising."

(haha he probably won't be riding alot ever): he shattered his knee cap and Daioh just banged his leg on the jump and broke it so they get to heal together!! I got the idea from the movie Seabiscut:)

Denis groaned again at the pains, "Take me to a doctor."

She nodded, and whistled. Lightning came cantering in. She obeyed Cassies command to lay beside dennis, snorting. "Try and pull yourself onto her back."

He nodded and bit his lip as he tried to get on. It took all his strength but he managed,

Lightning stood, following cassie to the truck, carefully.

The pain finally took Denis and he passed out.

Cassie opened a back door, and stood tall as she could, pulling him off Lightnings back, lifting him and laying I'm on the back seat. The palomino trotted over to the arena, going over to Daioh. Cassie shut the door and climbed into drivers, starting off and waiting for the gate to open.

Daioh whinnied at the car. Denis groaned.

Lightning stood, blocking the arena gate, so he couldn't run out and hurt himself.cassie pulled onto the road and turned, speeding towards the hospital.

Denis's eyes fluttered and he tried to turn, his hands immediatly flew to his knee and he groaned.

Cassie glanced at him in the mirror, blue eyes wide. "Try not to move."

He nodded grimly.

Soon she pulled up in front of the hospital, jumping out and beckoning to a nurse with a wheelchair. She opened the car door, and gently pulled denis out and into the wheelchair.

He bit his lip. as his leg rolled the wrong way. He sighed painfully as he sat in the wheelchair.

The nurse wheeled him to the ER, Cassie walking next to him the whole time. She looked worried, maybe even a little scred. The doctor met them, and led them to the Xray room, explaining that they would take one with him in the wheelchair. Her covered Denis es top half with a special, heavy blanket, and told Cassie she had to come into the other room with him.

Denis sighed, fearing the results. He looked at his knee and closed his eyes.

She came back in after they looked over x rays. "Your knee cap is shattered, but they can pin it together. You'll get a brace until they can fit you in, he said within the next day, so we'll wait in the hospital." She sighed, and a nurse came in with his brace, carefully fasening it.

All he did was nod.
