| The street was dark. Except for the flickering street lights along the street, everything was dark. Even the moon didnt dare show its face. The air swirled slowly, carefully, as everything seemed to hold its breath.
Her silvery blue irises were barely visible, her huge pupils reflected the streetlamps dim light. She walked down the middle of the empty street, her steps irregular, her feet bare. Her breath came out in dreamy puffs of ghostly vapor. In her hand, a half full bottle of vodka. She took a swig, her pale blond hair waterfalling halfway down her back. She gasped slightly in relief as the poison burned down her throat. Her jeans hugged her legs, offering minimal protection from the biting air. Her face was a pattern of shadows cast by her angular features. She stumbled, some alcohol spilling onto the street. The stretch of road ahead of her was dark; the streetlights blown. In her drunk state, she cursed. She had a couple more swigs of vodka, grinning. How she managed not to spill it on her loose dark green shirt, made of thin, semi-transparent material and tied up with a thin belt was difficult to fathom.
Maybe if she was sober, she'd stop, realize that she was walking straight into a trap of some sort. She'd feel the eyes following her. Notice the change in the air. The apparent stillness.
She laughed loudly, but her eyes were uncertain as she hesitated, staring at the darkness. But then she stopped. Not in self preservation, though. The bottle slipped from her grasp, and upon impact with the ground it shattered, sending broken glass slicing across her feet. Her eyes grew empty, and the hallucinations came. She stared at the empty street, shaking. Her jaw worked as her breaths became shallow, gasps for oxygen. Alice whimpered a few times, and then screamed, scrunching her eyes closed and dropping to the ground curled up on the broken glass, sobbing.
