Majo swam across the river and shook the water off. She smiled and looked around. "It's beautiful." she told FLint.

Flint smiled, "Thanks."

Majo trotted over to stand a few feet from Flint. "May I meet Starlight?" she asked, looking over at the stallion.

"Of course." He turned and walked towards the cave, "Starlight!"

Majo followed Flint and looked into the cave. She couldn't see anything, but she could smell a horse was not far away.

A dark figure materialized from the shadows. As she came into the light, she was easier to see. Her sculpted and delicate body showed she was pure arabian. Her dark bay coat was strung firmly across her packed muscles. She had a long fluttering black mane and tail, and her forelock fluttered away from her forehead momentarily, showing a bright white star. She slowed, stopping in the entrance. "Flint." She said softly, voice filled with passion. She turned to the mare with a stiff but polite. "Hello."

Flint smiled, "Starlight." He walke forward, touching his muzzle to hers, then swung around so he was standing next to her, looking at Majo.

She pressed her side against his, gaining confidence from his presence.

He pressed back, sighing happily, "This is Majo."

Majo's shoulders had tensed when she saw a dark form coming out of the cave, but relaxed slightly when she noticed a mare. She stood tense for a moment, looking the mare over. She noticed that the mare was an arabian like her, but with a darker coat and a white star on her forehead. She listened as the mare greeted her and dipped her head in a silent greeting, her silvery mane falling over her eyes. She relaxed slightly when Flint introduced her, but she glanced over her shoulder at the view behind her. She felt uncomfortable, but she didn't know why. If this is Flint's mate then why am I so nervous. Maybe I'm still not used to being in a herd yet and it's going to take some time to get used to all of it. she thought. She looked over to Flint and smiled shyly. "Is it all right if I go for a...um...run?" she asked quietly.

Starlight laughed softly. "Just because you're in our herd, doesn't mean we control all you do. It means when you're on our land, you are welcome, and you have our protection. It is your home." This time when she smiled, it was slightly more relaxed.

Majo looked at Starlight and smiled shly. "Oh. Okay...sorry I'm not used to being in a herd or having a place to call home." she admitted quietly. She turned quickly, but gracefully and trotted away from the two horses. Once she was a little ways away she reared up and tossed her head high before launching herself forward into a fast gallop.

She looked at Flint. "This'll take some getting used to." She said.

He looked at Starlight, "For all of us."

Majo galloped through the trees. Darting from side to side, barely missing low branches. She was a silver streak among the trees. She slowed down to a trot when she started to feel more relaxed and let out a long sigh. She whinnied nervously when she heard a cracking sound above her head and stopped, listening. The sound came again and she quickly looked up, only to look straight into the eyes of a cougar. She let out a terrified shreak and reared up as it leaped at her, dragging it's long claws down her shoulder. She thrashed and kicked as it held on to her shoulder, clawing and growling when she reached around to bite at it. She finaly went down when the large cat pulled her off balance, but she rolled on top of the cougar before it could get out of harms way. She heard a snaping sound as the cougar's leg broke under her weight. She staggered to her hooves and kicked out at the hurt cat, striking it in the head and finaly killing it. She staggered a few steps away before collapsing onto the ground. She rolled onto her side and bent her neck to look at the bloody claw marks that streched from the top of her shoulder to her leg. She tried to get back up, but her energy seemed to be gone from her run and then her struggle with the cougar. She whinnied helplessly as she felt the warm blood flow out of her shoulder and onto the grass around her.

Starlight slid to a stop in the clearing. "Are you okay?" She gasped.

Flint looked around, before running into the forest. He grabbed a hollowed out rock and galloped full speed to a small pond about 3 miles away. He filled the rock up and said something quietly. He ran back, the water not once spilling over the edge. He slid to a stop next to Majo and gently poured the water over her wounds, the water came out but not once did the rock get any less full. The pond water was special, it washed out the wounds and helped to stop bleeding, and if drunken daily it would speed up the healing process.

Starlight nodded. "Don't worry, you're okay now."

Flint spoke calmly and queitly, "You need to drink this water everyday until your wounds are gone, and for a couple days after."

Majo gasped when she felt the water flow over the claw marks but felt the bleeding stop. She pushed herself up and staggered forward but didn't fall down again. "Thank you." she told them, exhausted. She shuddered as she remembered the hungry look in the cougar's eyes and looked over at its motionless body. "Why do I need to drink it?" she asked quietly.

"It will continue to heal you, and protect from an infection, which is why you will drink even after the visible wounds are gone there may be wounds you can not see."

Starlight nodded "I think you should head back to the cave and rest."

Majo nodded and sighed as she thought about the long trip back to the cave. She started to walk towards the cave but felt pain cover her shoulder and stopped. She lifted her hoof of the ground and started to walk mostly on three legs, only putting pressure down on the injured leg when she had to. She collapsed when she reached the cave and rested there. She felt to tired to move.

Flint watched her. He turned to Starlight. "Hopefully our land will be safer soon," he chuckled a bit.

She nodded. "Now its not just us two."
