It was seven in the evening, and the claims races were beginning. Some where in it for the money. Others, for getting rid of their 'trash'. The first race went, and the second placer got claimed. The second, no one was claimed. The third were paraded, so the people could pick if they wanted one or not. Number 5 was a striking Dapple Rose Grey, from nobody bloodlines. She had long, muscular legs, and a sleek body. Her face was the typical long thoroughbred face, but her eyes were full of fire. She was the only horse who wasn't bay. They said that greys never win races. Well, so far her records hadn't been great, but that's because she hated her trainer, her owner, and her jockey. She was called psycho, loco, crazy. She snorted, sending a mist into the air, and pranced, hoping to catch someone's eye. She was going to blow the other thoroughbreds away, be a champion. She threw a small buck as the jockey mounted, and tried to bite the trainer. Her white star was hidden by her red hood, and she had a white sock on her hind left. there wasn't much time left for the people to claim a horse. She snorted, arching her neck desperately as they led her around again.

Sam cought eye of the pretty horse. She want planning on claiming for this race but the horse had something about it that was special. She made a claim on her before it was too late.

The bell rung, and the claiming was over. They loaded the horses in, and then the gates flew open. Strike It Rich broke well, in the front. She thundered forward, uncontrollable. Her jockey had never felt so much power come from her. Her muscles rippled as she stretched her long legs, eating up the clay of the track. She was way ahead of the others as she rounded a corner, still gaining her lead. Six paces ahead, and she still wasn't burning out. She went around the second, a thin sweat breaking over her chest. She snorted as she ran, ears pinned. Around the third corner, and then the fourth. Her jockey had given up even trying to slow her down. She saw the homestretch, and she was virtually a blur, whilst the rest of the pack rounded the last corner. It was impossible for any other horse to catch her now. She passed the finish line, and slowed slightly, ears pricked forward as the jockey leant back, trying to stop her. She slowed as a horse came beside her, its rider clipping a lead to her bit and bringing her down to a walk. Her coat was lathered with sweat, and her breath was heavy, but she pranced, tail high, picking up her feet and arching her neck. The jockey dismounted as her trainer grabbed her reins from the ponier. A man came up, handing her owner a ticket. She had been claimed.

Samantha watched the race and had never seen a horse run as fast as it could through the whole entire race but then again she hadn't been watching races very long. She remembered her claim and went down to the section to claim the mare.

The owner smiled curtly at the girl, and then handed Strikes reins over to her, signing the paper and handing that over too. He said a goodbye, and then turned to walk to the next horse of his who was racing. The trainer and jockey followed, talking, the jockey shaking his head in disbelief. Strike shoved her muzzle into the girls hand, nickering softly.

"Hi girl," (sorry it's supposed to be Indigo.) Indigo pet the mare's velvety muzzle, blowing softly into her nostrils. She held out a price of sugar for her.

She snorted and lipped the sugar from the girls hand, licking up any other crumbs of it. Then she stomped, as if to make a point.

Indigo smiled and pet the mares nose gently.

She snorted as the steward came around, directing them towards the stalls, so the next claimers could come through.

Indigo walked towards her trailer, "I hope you like your new home girl." She let down the ramp and walked inside the trailer, she untacked the mare and tied her to the pole. She put up the ramp and got in her truck, driving to her barn.
