Jaya:


Jaya's paws were silent across the forest floor. She scanned the area, looking for prey that might be lingering. Sticking her nose in the air, she took a good whiff. The scent came in strong. A deer was a few yards ahead of her. Jaya could already taste the meal. Licking her muzzle, she set off to find the deer.

She made certain to stay low to the ground, not wanting the deer to see her. She was grateful that the wind was blowing towards her, and not away from her. A tan form came in sight shortly after padding along the trees. Jaya slowed her pace, settling in a laying position. She began to belly crawl towards the deer.

Jaya slowly raised herself from the ground, but still stayed low, trying to stay quiet and unseen. She miscalculated her steps and a stick found its way under her paw. It cracked, sending the deer's head flying in the air. It's ears were alert, and it looked around, trying to find the source of the sound. Jaya didn't move a muscle, in fear of scaring the prey away.

Foalen growled, glancing over at the she-wolf that was stalking the doe, as well. She had almost scared the deer away with that racket. He put a paw forward, then felt an arched twig snap under his paw, too. He ducked his head down, silently cursing himself. Idiot. The doe, already on high-alert, started, kicking up her legs as it started to run in fear and terror. Foalen jumped up, leaping after her.

He tightened the muscles in his legs, especially the back ones, bolting him forward. His tongue rolled out as he tried to keep cool ahead of time. He gained on the doe, growling when she jumped over a fallen tree, its branches worn and stripped of its leaves from weathering and aging. He bunched up his body, memorizing where the fallen life was before leaping over it, soaring across the gnarled trunk.

Foalen put his paws forward, letting them meet the inviting ground that awaited his arrival. His muscles rippled under his black coat as he thudded back down onto the dirt, moss, and grass. He tore off after the deer again, his nails digging into the muddy Earth, his dull mossy green eyes shining with pure and utter determination.
